Update 8-31-13

Been watching the US Open this year. Since I haven't played much but have practiced some getting ready for the fall season, this is a good thing to do to get some pointers from the pros. You get different techniques, ideas and strategies by just watching the pros. Next time you are on the court, try them.

Practice, Practice, Practice. That is the only way you will be better.

Update 8-7-03

It has been a while since I have posted anything on this blog. Been going through alot of stuff and my tennis is kind of been on the back burner. Unfortunately, the momentum that I had, has slowed and been put on hold. The more that I played, the better I became and gained confidence. With the confidence, came the wins.
Have had some personal problems that has hampered my tennis playing. On top of that, I have been having back issues. I also for some time now, I have had a bad big toe on my right foot. Last year, I saw a doctor about my toe and he suggested surgery. I have been putting it off and continued to play. I was hurting last season in league play and it did not help that our team was not that good. After taking some time to research the problem I have with my toe, surgery looks to be the answer, but am still worried on how I will be able to move with screws in my foot.
Came to find out that Lleyton Hewitt also had the same problem that I have bee going through and he had been sidelined for a couple of years with injuries. I don't know if that specific toe injury kept him off the court or if it was a combination of other injuries as well.
There seems to be hope seeing Hewitt return and playing well. I hope that I too, can get back on the court and pick up where I left off before all the personal problems and injuries hit me.

I believe, that once I get back to playing without the injuries, and if I can focus on playing instead of having my personal problems creep in, that I can again gain the confidence and win. I look forward to that day, be it having support or going it alone.

Update 1/3/13

I haven't posted anything in a while. Just wanted to add an update. 2011 was a good year for my tennis. Our team won the Spring League and made it to the Sections in Dallas, TX. Our team did not do too well there though. Played well throughout that year. At the end of 2011, our team won the Fall league and we went to Houston to play in the USPTA tournament indoors in Houston. Again, we started well, but we did not finish well. Since our Fort Worth Team consisted of 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5. We played as a team and were within 1 point of First Place after the first round, but the rest our team did not play well. Had fun though.

In 2012 we lost some key players and I became captain of our team. I had to recruit some new players but our team lacked strong singles players. We ended up in 4th place. A new league started up in the summer of 2012. It was 40+ 3.5 level team. I had fun with that league and I continued to play well. Won every match except 1. Mid-year ratings came out and as a result of my continued winning ways, I was bumped up to 4.0.

After the bump up, I did appeal but was denied as I was a benchmark player. Unfortunately for me, I did not play the rest of the year. Mainly because I was working alot and did not have time to play and also the fact that my dad was ill and eventually passed away in September. I also had some financial setbacks which I am still dealing with. But with God's grace I expect to get back on track this year and years to come and hopefully get back on the court.

As a result of me not playing since August of 2012, the end of year ratings came out and I was bumped back down to 3.5 again. I kept in touch with my old team mates, but again, we lost so more players and don't know if our team (which I have been a part of for many years - last original member of the team) will be back together again.

The good news for me is that although, financially I am struggling, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Our boss told us that we would be working overtime for the remainder of January, we get our raises in February, tax refund in March and performance bonus in March which will help me get back on my feet. The bad news is that I won't have time to play. Don't know what the future holds as far as having time to play but hopefully I can make time to play league and maybe a few tournaments.

I hope that 2013 will be a better year for me and hope it will be a great year for everyone who reads this too.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.
